Updated icons on social media!

Happy March everyone!

As I’m working away on Brody the Lion, I decided to take a moment to update some of my banners and profile pictures on social media. So if you see the below image anywhere or a cropped version of the face then it’s me! I wanted to update my banners for spring/summer and this felt perfect variation of what I’ve had from the last year.

More updates for Brody and summer projects coming soon! Be sure to follow me @sunnyskiesdesign on Facebook and Instagram to get all the updates on me and the brand!

Sexy Hackers Clothing + 2020!

Happy New Year world!

Wow, lots of awesome things have happened this last year for me. In 2019 I graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) with a BFA in Illustration, completed an entire children’s picture book, started a small part time job (more to come in a second), and also sold several copies of my children’s picture book!

These last few months have definitely been a season of change and I wanted to share with some of the designs I was creating for a local company called Sexy Hackers Clothing. Located in Oak Creek, WI, the company focuses on geeky t-shirts and designs. Below are only a couple of the designs I’ve been working on since August of 2019.

It’s been so fun working on these designs and I’m so happy to be apart of the Sexy Hackers Clothing team! Follow them on Instagram @sexyhackersclothing and check out their live Twitch stream every Monday at twitch.tv/sxyHACKERS.

I’m excited for what 2020 will hold. I’ve got plans for updating a comic of mine I started in a Fall 2018 class and doing some more original designs. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @sunnyskiesdesign for all the current updates of my art.

Sunny Skies Design Color Challenge

Over the past semester I had the awesome opportunity to create 16 original images for my Instagram account. It was a lot of work, but I was able to get some great pieces out of it. One of which is a main portfolio piece!

I would love for you to enjoy the challenge as well, and I may just do another 16 images too! My “official rules” of the challenge can be found on my Instagram. The basics are:

  1. Create a color wheel (add Sepia, Black on White, White on Black, and Rainbow)

  2. Create images

  3. Post images

  4. TAG ME! (@sunnyskiesdesign or #sunnyskiesdesign)

Pretty easy! Some good challenges are to do character studies, backgrounds, or even icons to sell! Be loose, or focused!

To help out a little I created a printable .pdf and an Instagram sized .ai file. Feel free to download these to help you get kick started.

For a .ai file to use: Click Here

Any questions? Feel free to ask! Have fun creating!

Winter Break!

Hello there everyone! Did you know we’re one week away from Christsmas?! Where did this year go? Even though it’s cold up here, Wisconsin has yet to have any major snow. It’s hard to be singing songs like “Let it Snow” when all you see is dead grass! Though, all of us in Wisconsin know that it’s coming. We don’t know when, or how much, but it will come.

Any-who, I just wanted to say a quick hello and give an update. Sunnyskiesdesign.com has been updated with new pictures and galleries. My Sequential Art assignments are now uploaded as well, so if you like to see a snip-it of the final I completed in class, it’s under the Work drop down labeled “Comics”. I will continue to edit some of my galleries over winter break, so stay tuned for another update for me by the new year.

Now that the semester is done, I’ve got time to work on some personal art projects, art trades, and a Secret Santa card project. Be sure to check out my Instagram @sunnyskiesdesign to see what I’m up to!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Current and Upcoming Events!

Hello everyone! During this busy Holiday Season and Senior year, I found a little extra time to enter some work into some local shows!

Currently, I have a framed version of my digital illustration “Fall Walk” at the Museum of Wisconsin Art’s 2018 MOWA Members’ Show. The show will be up until January 6th, so if you are in the area, please stop by and visit the show!

Sunny Skies Design will also have a mini booth open at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design’s (MIAD) upcoming MIAD Holiday Sale. I will be selling copies of “Fall Walk” and it’s companion “Spring Walk” as well as a few other little prints. I will be at the booth during their preview night this Thursday November 29th (6pm-9pm). Though the booth will be up until Saturday December 1st. If you are looking for something special this Holiday Season, this show is not one to miss!

Feel free to send me a shout out in person or on social media if you get a chance to visit!

Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

A New Thing!

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
